CREATE Architecture Planning & Design, New York, New York Awarded Columbus Commons
730,000 sf Power Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
New York, New York, October 20, 2003
CREATE Architecture Planning & Design has been
awarded the contract to design The Goldenberg Group's dynamic new power center,
Columbus Commons located on Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania.
The 600,000 sf Power Center sits on 45 acres and is anchored by IKEA, a Lowe's
Home Improvement Store, Best Buy, Linens and Things and several other yet to
be announced national retailers and restaurants.
CREATE developed the conceptual design which includes all site engineering in
associations with Langan Engineering of Philadelphia. Columbus Commons layout
and environmental graphics program will link the new center with the adjacent
Snyder Plaza also owned by The Goldenberg Group and will allow for visibility
and identity to nearby I-95.
CREATE's Principal, Frankie J. Campione notes that, Philadelphia's burgeoning
center city housing market has given many national retailers the opportunity
to be a part of the city's resurgence. They are also showing great foresight
by working with local developers early on, to develop exciting sites and formats
that really push the envelope for urban retail centers. These developments will
also continue to have a vital role in people's decisions to work and live downtown.
